Troubleshooting: Problem: Sometimes BIOS fails to retain the computer’s settings 

Troubleshooting: Problem: Sometimes BIOS fails to retain the computer’s settings such as time & date and hard drive configuration. Each BIOS uses a battery (like the battery of a watch) on the motherboard to store the settings when the machine is powered off. When the battery fails BIOS also fails to preserve its system settings.

Solution: Simply replace the battery to solve the problem.
